FX UI React Developer

Barclays is seeking an FX UI React Developer to join their team in Prague. This role is crucial for spearheading the evolution of the bank's digital landscape, driving innovation and excellence in their financial technology offerings. The successful candidate will leverage cutting-edge technology to revolutionize digital offerings, ensuring unparalleled customer experiences within the financial sector. The purpose of this role is to design, develop, and improve software using various engineering methodologies. This includes providing business, platform, and technology capabilities for both customers and colleagues. The position involves working within an environment that is advancing machine learning, leveraging blockchains, and harnessing FinTech, offering a chance to reimagine possibilities and solve challenges for millions of customers.

Develop and deliver high-quality software solutions using industry-aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensure that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance. Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives. Participate in code reviews and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing. Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities. Adhere to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions. Implement effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability. Advise and influence decision making, contribute to policy development, and take responsibility for operational effectiveness (for Assistant Vice President expectations). Collaborate closely with other functions/business divisions. Lead a team performing complex tasks or lead collaborative assignments and guide team members (for leadership responsibilities or individual contributors).

Proficiency in React and strict TypeScript programming, including custom hooks, advanced component patterns, performance optimisation, error boundaries, and context architecture. Experience with TanStack React Query and Apollo Client (GraphQL) for server state management. Strong knowledge of Design Patterns, Testing practices (Vitest and React Testing Library), and Code Quality principles. Experience with Playwright for component and E2E testing, including test architecture, fixture design, and API mocking strategies. Ability to independently drive architectural decisions, lead large-scale refactorings, and establish patterns across a shared codebase. Experience with Vite, pnpm monorepos, and micro-frontend architecture (highly valued). Experience with AG Grid, React Hook Form, and Zod schema validation (highly valued). Knowledge of DevOps tools (CI/CD pipelines, containerisation with Docker and Kubernetes) (highly valued). UX sensibility - ability to make pragmatic UI and accessibility decisions (highly valued). Scripting and automation skills (CI workflows, tooling, code generation) (highly valued).
